Lisa Zavitz is a full time artist working in mixed media painting and collage. She began painting with acrylics on canvas in the mid 1990’s using a bold painterly style to interpret her outdoor experiences in the Canadian Rockies. Lisa then began experimenting with a variety of mixed media materials to create a textural surface further transitioning her work into the next phase. She is a self-taught artist having attended workshops and artist-residencies under the tutelage of well-known artist teachers to hone her skills. She believes that creation cannot solely occur in isolation and art is a journey of exploration. An artist should remain open to the process of learning from others but find their own personal path to create works that are truly their own.
